Record Turnout for 2024 World Rowing Virtual Indoor Sprints
Another World Rowing Virtual Indoor Sprints is in the books for 2024. The Indoor Sprints is an annual joint initiative between Concept2 and World Rowing, and unlike a traditional race, it can take place virtually from anywhere in the world.
This year, the 1000 metre sprint event took place March 6-10. Participants could enter as many eligible 1000m times as they wanted between those dates knowing the fastest would automatically be the one to count. And because the Concept2 Online Logbook is used to enter results, all results show in the worldwide leaderboard, making it easy to see where you stand with others across the globe.
This year, 6913 people from 92 countries took part—up nearly 15% from last year. The competitor categories included heavyweight, lightweight, junior and adaptive for men and women, and the age range of the participants went from 4 years old up to 95!
For many people, the World Rowing Virtual Indoor Sprints is a good annual snapshot of their fitness and standing, so it’s become a good goal to shoot for when indoor racing season starts each year. Maybe something to think about for next year?
Congratulations to all participants. Can’t wait to see you all next year.
