24th Annual Holiday Challenge Starts Soon!
This is the twenty-fourth year of the Concept2 Holiday Challenge and we’re proud to say it’s become our most popular individual challenge. Combine the spirit of the holidays with the greater-than-ever need for exercise and stress relief during this busy time of year and the Holiday Challenge is the perfect solution. The more metres we all row, ski or ride between Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Eve, the more we will raise to support this year’s non-profit beneficiaries.
The challenge runs from American Thanksgiving through midnight on Christmas Eve. (This year, the dates are November 23 to December 24—that's 32 days total). Row, ski or ride 100k on the Concept2 RowErg, SkiErg or BikeErg (combined metres count!) during the challenge and Concept2 will donate $.02 per kilometre (1000 metres) to your choice of this year's charities. Once you get beyond 100k, we'll donate $.04 per additional kilometre. Note: BikeErg metres are counted as half when applied to the challenge.
This year, we selected four non-profit organizations that work around the world on climate issues, children’s rights, and basic human needs like food and water. Extreme weather events and the upheaval of war has made the work of these organizations more important than ever. We also chose a local Vermont organization that is supporting our neighbors struggling to rebuild their homes and businesses after devastating flooding in July.
We have selected the following organizations for this year’s Holiday Challenge:
World Resources Institute
“Using research-based approaches and unique coalitions, we work globally, and in focus countries and regions to meet people’s essential needs, to protect and restore nature, and to stabilize the climate.”
Charity: Water
“charity: water is a nonprofit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries. With a radically transparent model that sends 100% of public donations straight to the field, charity: water funds sustainable water projects in areas of greatest need and works with local partners to implement them. The organization proves every project, using innovative technology and powerful storytelling to connect donors with their impact. Since 2006, charity: water has funded over 137,000 water projects around the world to help more than 17.4 million people get access to clean water, hygiene, and improved sanitation.”
World Central Kitchen
“WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. Deploying our model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, we know that a nourishing meal in a time of crisis is so much more than a plate of food—it's hope, it's dignity, and it's a sign that someone cares.”
Save The Children
“In the US and around the world we do whatever it takes—every day and in times of crisis—to ensure children grow up healthy, educated and safe. We are often the first or only child-focused organization working in the hardest-to-reach places, where it’s toughest to be a child.”
VT Community Foundation Flood Relief
“When a disaster strikes, we all feel the impact and look for ways to help. The VT Flood Response & Recovery Fund 2023 was established to support Vermonters in responding to and recovering from the catastrophic rainfall across Vermont in 2023.”
It's your choice! Make your selection in your Concept2 Online Logbook. If you can’t decide on which organization to choose, you can allow Concept2 to allocate your metres across all five charity options. Or, you may opt not to support any of the charities by selecting the Do Not Donate option. If you don't have an online logbook yet, learn more on how to set one up. It's a simple process and it's free!
Don't forget to hop on ErgData's Real Time Loop and get your metres in with others from around the world on our virtual 1000 metre loop. Let's see how many people are on the loop during Holiday Challenge 2023!
