Why Hire?

By now you probably already know that the Concept2 Indoor Rower is held in high esteem by both professional athletes and the public alike. However, you may not have been totally convinced just yet and would like to give one a try for a while before you commit to a purchase, or you may want one for a certain amount of time to achieve a personal goal, such as losing a set amount of weight or to train for an upcoming event that you need to increase your fitness for.

So essentially, with that in mind there are two main reasons for hiring a Concept2 Rower.

You have heard that Concept2 make the best and most accurate rowers In the world and you think you want one but are not sure if you want to commit to a purchase because you are unsure if you will use it as much as you would hope, are uncertain if it will fit in your spare room, or are just debating whether you will gel with it.
You need to lose weight, tone up or get fitter for an upcoming event. Perhaps it is your son or daughter’s wedding in six months time and you want to look as radiant as they do on the big day, or maybe, somewhat rashly, on a dare from your friend you entered your local charity half marathon without having done any preparation whatsoever.

The Model D hire machines are supplied with the PM3 monitor, which is compatible with Polar heart rate equipment.

How It Works

There are 2 different forms depending on whether the application is for an individual or a commercial institution. Once you have decided to hire simply fill in the relevant application form (see links below).

You will be asked to pay the first month's hire fee and the £60 per machine admin charge^† via our secure SagePay page. We will then email you a link your completed application form that you just need to sign and return to us with a copy of your passport or driving license and a current utility bill. Once we receive the paperwork, (you can fax, email or post this to us), we will contact you to organise delivery of your hire machine (standard delivery is included and is a specified working day but no specific time can be given. AM delivery is available for £15 and Saturday delivery is available for £25) - please note: this can take upto 72 hours after receiving your paperwork.

You can either hire a brand new machine from us or a pre-hired machine. Naturally, if you go for a pre-hired machine it is cheaper than a new machine.

If you decide at any time during your hire period that you would buy the machine you have on hire rather than return it, we can accommodate this. You would be buying the machine you have on hire at a price discounted from the retail cost. See the FAQs for full details.

If you decide that the time has come to return the machine then simply repack the machine (see FAQs for instructions) and give us a ring and we will book a courier to come and collect the boxed machine from you. Again for full details see the FAQs.

^†For hire applications of 5 machines or fewer the admin fee is non-refundable on return of the machines. For 6 or more machines the admin fee is refundable on either purchase or return of the hire machines subject to a 6 month minimum hire period.

How does it work?
Simply fill in the hire application form online and pay your first months rental and the admin fee through our secure SagePay site. This will then automatically email you your hire agreement that you just need to print out, sign each of the three copies in the two places required and email, post or fax the agreement back to us with a copy of your driving license or passport and a utility bill.
What if I want to buy my rower that I have on hire?
No problem, we can accommodate that. Should you wish to buy the rower you are hiring from us the price will be the retail cost minus your admin fee, minus £50 if you have had the rower for over 6 months or minus £100 if you have had he rower for over 1 year.

The retail cost for a new Model D is £980, new Model E is £1,315. Pre-hired Model D £880, pre-hired Moded E £1,150.

So, for example, if you hired a new Model D from us for 7 months and decided to buy. The price would be £980 - (£60 + £50) giving you a total to pay of £870.
If I decide to buy my hire rower, can I pay on finance?
Unfortunately, at present we do not have finance available for Indoor Sport Services so we would need the balance in full via a debit card or credit card.
What if I want to monitor my heart rate?
The PM3 machines require a Polar chestbelt and Heart Rate Interface to facilitate the heart rate function. The PM4 machines just require a Garmin chestbelt. There will be a link to the relevant belt at the end of your application.
Do I have to pay by Direct Debit?
In short, yes.
Is there a minimum or maximum hire period?
A minimum of 1 month, there is no maximum.
What are the initial costs?
Your first month's rental and the £60 admin fee (per machine).
What is the admin fee for?
This is to cover your delivery and collection and setting up your account and direct debit.
Is the admin fee refundable?
For applications to hire 5 or fewer machines the admin fee is non-refundable, for 6 or more the admin fee is refundable on either purchase or return of the hire machines subject to the 1 month minimum hire period.
Can I have my rower delivered to an alternate address or at the weekend?
Yes, if it is not convenient to have your rower delivered to your home address during the week we can deliver to an alternate address, or for an additional cost of £25 we can deliver on a Saturday morning between 9 and 12.
How do I return the rower to you if and when the time comes?
Please keep your box when the rower is delivered. Hide it away in a secure place where it will be out of sight (but not too much - your shed, garage or loft for example). If you decide that you would like to stop the hire and return the machine to us, simply rebox following these instructions Model D or these for Model E, we also have a video which may help.

We will then book a courier for you at no extra cost to come and collect the rower on your chosen day of the week (Monday-Friday). Please be aware that you or someone you know and trust will need to be in all day to receive the couriers. If no-one can be at your home address then we can book a collection for an alternate address such as a neighbour, relative or work premises.
What about maintenance?
Don't fret. As with a new rower, the best thing you can do is keep the rower clean and perhaps put a drop of chain oil on the chain once every 6-8 months. If you have a small problem with a hire rower that requires a new part, we will post the replacement part to you with fitting instructions and ask you to fit that yourself which is usually very easy. If it is a bigger problem that we would not expect you to fix, we will swap the rower for you. However, don't dwell to much on this question as the rowers are so reliable we seldom experience any problems

As part of the hire package every new hire customer will receive a free 12 month RowPro licence worth £24.99. RowPro is software designed exclusively for users of Concept2 Indoor Rowers. Using next-generation technologies, it provides a highly realistic on-water rowing simulation, tracking each stroke you take on the Indoor Rower in real-time.
