Forest Indoor Rowing Championship
Fitzone, Coleford
The Forest IRC was once again hosted by Fitzone (Coleford) and sponsored by the Mortgage Bureau. This event was open to all the fitness centres within the Forest with the addition this year of Monmouth RC.
The highlight of the event was a new British record set by Gillian Wallis, taking almost five seconds off the previous record. The most thrilling race of the day was between John Owen of Monmouth RC and Graham Watling of Fitzone in the Mne's 40-49 Hwt category. The race went to the line with John pipping Graham by less than a second.
Louise Allison of Monmouth RC won a bottle of wine (supplied by the Mortgage Bureau) for being the fastest lady of the day, finishing in a time of 7:46.1, while David Evans (Fitzone) was the fastest man in 6:31.9.
There were ten new championship records. These were set by Stephanie Cherington, Louise Alison, Charlotte Neale-Edwards, Gillian Wallis, Graham Ireland, John Owen, Chris Hawkins, Keith Wallis, Pete Rudd and Ron Knight.
