Pacific Ocean Row 2014
Venue: Worldwide
Organiser: Sarah Weldon
Telephone: 07866715749
Email: sarah@oceansproject.com
Website: www.oceansproject.com4 teachers from the UK and South Africa met whilst teaching in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia. They set up a charity called Oceans Project Georgia, and the kids thought it would be great fun if the teachers rowed across the Pacific Ocean raising money for an online classroom, and brought the outside world in to children worldwide who have no access to any kind of education. So the four teachers 'fourbirdsaboating' have decided to return to their home countries, where they will spend a year learning to row. They each aim to cover the equivalent of 7200 nautical miles on their concept2 rowing machines between now and May 2014, when they will set off from Monterey Bay, California to row the real thing, to Hawaii, and on to Cairns, Australia. The team want to record their training, as a way of building mental and physical confidence, and would love for others to cover the same amount of milage on their rowers, to motivate each other, get fit, and have fun. We really hope you can join us on your concept2s and follow us online as we row across the real thing next year.
