I don't see how. A few extra button presses? A bit of writing? Well, that's really going to sap your strength, isn't it? Besides, PM3 users have the disadvantage that the interval starts when the PM3 says it does, leading to "chasing the split". One could argue that PM3 users will be at a greater disadvantage unless they also key in individual distances that start when they begin rowing, and use a clock/pencil to time rests.

some people are at a disadvantage because of their technique. Others are at a disadvantage because of their height, size, amount of time they have available to train, their fitness, their strength etc etc. Is this not then an issue? They cant do much about it and know it will disadvantage them in the scores but still they give it a go without complaining about it or questioning the fairness of it all. Whatever the challenge is chosen it is never a fair playing field. For it to be so would be nigh on impossible. The challenge is to do as best you can with what you have available and just enjoy it for what it is, a just for fun event that helps us with our motivation to row and improve as much as we can.

You have the option with the new firmware to disable this opition so the PM3 behaves the same way as the PM2 on intervals.

Janet is correct. I demand a challenge that is fair for 5' 7" shorties like me, as well as the 6-footers.

Janet you are missing my point. It does not matter how good or bad someone’s technique is or how tall or short they are. The challenge is not based on height or technique; it is based on distance intervals with varying rest periods in between. Some people will get more or less rest than the others due do depending on what monitor they are using. You can dress it up how you like it still remains that the challenge is not an equal one, even if it is for fun.

I am not stopping anyone rowing it; I am just pointing it out for future reference.

It's not an option. It changes behaviour with PM3 V92.

Sorry Dougie, are you saying it doesn't do that at all, or that it now does it automatically with V92?

"With the new firmware". What about all those that are using old firmware, and don't have the ability to update their firmware, or are using gym machines with old versions of the firmware? What about them, huh? Huh?

Yes I agree, it's not fair is it!!?

If it was a 10 minute challenge would anyone have reason to complain?

It's fair enough, particularly when we already accept the myriad of other variables that mean all competitors are not playing on a level field.

Well then, would it not seem a sensible option to eliminate any “non fairness” if we have the ability to do so? rather than adding to them.
