Rules and things to remember

  1. Entry is free.
  2. Age category is determined by the individual's age on the date of their first submitted result and will remain the same for the duration of the Series regardless of date of birth. So if, for example, your D.O.B. is 10/10/68 and a result is submitted for the first round your age category will be 30+. If you don't submit a result until round 3 then your age category will be 40+.
  3. Individuals can choose any resistance setting. We recommended setting the damper between 1 and 3.
  4. Rows must be done in the month of the Challenge round
  5. Results must be entered online into the Challenge Series website before entries close.
  6. Entries will close at 11pm on the nominated close of entries day.
  7. An individual can only enter one result per round, however if they better their submitted time before entries for the round close they will be able to amend their result through their login.
  8. For Rounds 1 & 7 the monitor should be set for prescribed time and the finish distance recorded.
  9. For Rounds 2 - 6, 8 & 9 the monitor should be set for the prescribed distance before the race begins, and the finish time including the tenth of a second recorded.
  10. Standings are calculated as a percentage of the best result in each category. So, if in Round 1 the winner covered 1,200m in the 4:00.0 they would receive 100 points. If you rowed 960m would receive 80.0 points (your metres/winners metres = 960/1200 = 80.0%). If in Round 2 the winner rows 6:00.0 and receives 100 points, and you row 7:30.0, you would receive 80.0 points (winners seconds/your seconds = 360.0/450.0 = 80.0%).
  11. Lightweight* competitors can mark each entry as Lwt where applicable, results in each category can then be filtered for lightweights only. Please note that where an individual enters some rounds as Hwt and some as Lwt only the Lwt results will be displayed and scored in the filtered table. There will not be medals awarded for the Lwt categories.
  12. Individuals from outside Britain and Ireland can enter, although they are not eligible for the prizes.
  13. A gold, silver and bronze medal will be awarded to the first, second and third British/Irish individual in each category.
  14. Prize draw winners will be selected at random from every eligible individual each round and at the end of the series.
  15. Challenge Series T-Shirts will be available to every individual who submits a time for every round. T-Shirts will be despatched as soon as possible after the closing date of the final round.
