Rowing For Help For Heroes
This year the BIRC formed the finale of a four month campaign in aid of Help for Heroes and encouraged people to row as far as they could on the rowing machine to raise as much money as possible.
BIRC President Sir Steve Redgrave donated his autographed limited edition white Model C Indoor Rower as a prize for the person who raised the most money - and the winner was Alex Winchester who raised an incredible £11,251.29 for the cause and clocked up over 1 million metres on the way. You can read more about Alex's acheivement in the H4H Profiles section.
H4H is all about 'doing your bit' and this is a wonderful example of people having a good idea, rallying support and having a great deal of fun while they raise money for a wonderful cause. We have been able to use the £millions raised (over £61m in under three years) to provide practical and direct support to those wounded in the current conflicts. The money you raise is needed, it is being used and it is hugely appreciated; sadly, we need a great deal more. You are part of something that is very British and wonderful and I would like to say thank you to Concept 2 for supporting us in this year's British Indoor Rowing Championships for this and good luck and thank you to everyone who takes part.
