Universities To Benefit From BUCS Points At BIRC

British University & College Sport (BUCS) is pleased to announce that following discussions with event organisers, Concept2, the student category of the championships is eligible for BUCS points.

Students from UK institutions will be competing in the 'PricewaterhouseCoopers BUCS Indoor Rowing Championships' as part of the BIRC's full programme of rowing events during the day. Results from all eligible students will be extracted from the event to allocate BUCS points and medals for bronze, silver and gold in four student categories will also be available.

Karen Rothery, Chief Executive of British Universities & Colleges Sport said: "We are delighted that we have been able to reinstate the indoor rowing championships for students this year with the support of Concept2 and the BIRC.

This event is hugely popular within the rowing community and we hope that many more students at all ability will take part. Indoor rowing is a fantastic participation sport and by working with Concept2 we hope that in future years, more students from other BUCS sports, keen to prove their fitness levels, will get involved."

John Wilson, Race Director of the British Indoor Rowing Championship said: "We are pleased to have formed a relationship with BUCS and look forward to growing student participation over the coming years. This is the 19th BIRC and the 19th time that it will be the only student indoor rowing championship and we are pleased to be able to offer BUCS points and medals at the event."

In order to be eligible for this category, student competitors must enter the "PricewaterhouseCoopers BUCS Indoor Rowing" event via the Concept2 website. Entries should be made online via the Entry Form.

All competitors in the PricewaterhouseCoopers BUCS Indoor Rowing Championships must have their student cards available for inspection on the day of the event.

BUCS points will be allocated in each of the Student categories as follows:

Position Points
1st 12
2nd 8
3rd 6
4th 4

BUCS medals will be awarded for Gold, Silver and Bronze in each of the four categories.
